Legal Question in Criminal Law in Kansas

I broke a street sign and the pole it was on (on purpose....) We initially were going to take the pole but instead decided to leave it. Later the police showed up and asked friends about the sign. I'm not sure what they said about that. There isn't any significant damage, as the pole can just get a new screw to the base that is in the ground. However I'm worried I may get charged or have to pay fines. What is the possibility of this happening if they did not take any of my information, but they know the name of my friend. I obviously won't let him take the fall for this.
