Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Kansas

My ex-fiancee called off our engagement. He literally took the ring off my finger and left with it. The ring was purchased by the both of us. I had a wedding ring from a previous marriage and my ex-fiancee "traded it up" for a new engagement ring. The ring I traded in was worth $2,000. and my ex-fiancee put in $2,000.00 cash. When the engagement was called off, I proposed we sell the ring and split the money. He is keeping the ring at his house. He won't let me have it so I can sell it. I don't trust him to sell and give me what he really sold it for. My question is, What are my options? Since he called off the engagement does he have any more right to have the ring than I do? Thanks

It appears you may be able to sue for recompense of the $2,000 , or possibly half the present value of the ring.

Good luck
