Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Kansas

Slander in written work

I am in the process of writing a book and I want to make reference to my experiences with my own divorce. I do not plan to use my ex-husband's name, but can he sue me for slander or some other avenue that I am not aware of?

Interesting you posted this 12/31/69 and we just now get it 30 years later.:-)

Sure your husband can sue you for libel. Anyone can sue anyone for anything. The question is will he get a lawyer to take his case and will he spend the money to sue and if he does sue will he win. Unless your book causes him financial damage or he has money to waste, the odds are low he will satisfy any of the ifs.

If you publish a lie,

he might make you cry.

If what you say is true

not much he can do.
