Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Kansas

I've finished my 6 month lease with an apartment complex and I'm now going month to month, I want to move sooner but the want 30 days notice on the FIRST of the month..(it's the 15th today and I tried to give 30 days notice)

If I leave before the first of next month, can they do anything more then keep my deposit? Can they come after me for that whole month?

Based upon the few facts that you provided, it appears that you owe Juky rent. If you give them For ce now, it is effective for a July 31st move out. If your deposit does not cover the rent owed, they can sue you for the. Remainder. But, if that is less than $200, many landlords don't bother. But, it could be reflected in the reference you get for future landlords.

Good luck
