Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Kansas

My parents left 12 acres of land to their children, the last parent passed away 12 yrs ago. I have paid the property taxes myself the last 6 yrs. My husband cleaned up the property and built a house 4 yrs ago. We have maintained and improved the property with no help, financial or otherwise from my siblings, they each told me they wanted nothing to do with the place. Now a niece is wanting to move onto said property and not pay anything, since all of the hard work is finished. My question is, do I have to allow this to happen?

You probably do not have to allow a niece may be in to the other exclusion of all others. The easy answer is to sell the property. Then divide the profit after reimbursing yourself for your siblings portions of what you spent on improving the property.

Good luck
