Legal Question in Family Law in Kentucky

what can my husband do to me?

I am a US citizen married to a Canadian citizen who has a application pending for permanent residency. He is much younger than me. I am on SS disability and retirement.

We have been seperated since June 2001. He is employed and makes $1500 per month. He has me covered on his health insurance.

Ok, here is my question. When the income tax refund came, I signed it and also signed his name and used the money to pay bills in the house we lived in together. His name is NOT on the house.

Since June he has not given or offered me a penny to help me. Most times he will not return my phone calls or email.

I told him I would owe him his share , $300, and would pay it when I can. Now he is threatening to take me off his health insurance and I won't be able to get my medicines.

Questions: Is he obligated to help me financially even if we are seperated ?

Can he prosecute me in any way for signing his name to our refund ?

Can I fight it if he tries to take me off his insurance ?

He is under some pressure because if we get divorced , I can tell immigration and he will be deported. Not sure that bothers him much.

Thank you for any help you can give. I have no money for an attorney.

Re: what can my husband do to me?

unless you are legally separatd in kentucky, he owes no duty of support to you. he probably can not prosecute you for the check, but it is possible. divorce or a legal separation may be the only way to have him possibly support you. e-mail me if you would like further consultation at [email protected].
