Legal Question in Immigration Law in Kentucky

I am a natural born US citizen and would like to marry my English boyfriend and live here in America. I know I probably need to do the whole K-1 fiancee visa thing, but my question is what kind of money/job requirements are there? I know that this kind of thing costs money and I have to have a job where I can support us but what does that mean? We are both relatively poor and I know we're not at the point we can do it right now but I want to know what kind of goals to shoot for before we can do it.

So long as your marriage is legitimate, meaning you're not getting married just so he can get a green card, you shouldn't have to postpone your marriage because you don't have a lot of money. If you've reviewed the paperwork and feel you can file it without the assistance of an attorney (as many do), you can avoid the legal fees. If not, you'll have to get a quote from an immigration attorney and save up.
