Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Kentucky

In My Home: Legal or Not?

With all the talk about copyright laws, I'm confused, but want to do the right thing, and I couldn't find a direct answer amongst all the copyright-related postings in your database. I think copies I make and keep of materials I've purchased myself are legal. (Yes?) But are these things I own legal or not?

Songs I've recorded off the radio.

Songs I've recorded from friends' casettes or CD's.

Songs I've downloaded from the Internet.

Movies I've taped off premium channels.

Movies I've taped from friends' tapes.

Movies I've downloaded from the Internet.

Thanks for your reply.

Re: In My Home: Legal or Not?

None is legal unless (1) you have a license from the copyright holder (some music on the net that you pay for is legal to download and save), or (2) the purpose (for tv programs) is to play it at a more convenient time - but not to keep it around to play over again.
