Re: lawyer responsibility

All states have rules of professional responsibility. Maryland, my home state, has a version based on the Model Code. Rule 1.15(b) generally compels the lawyer to provide a full accounting "promptly" upon request. You should consider making written demand on your attorney for a full accounting. You should consider hiring new counsel. You should consider calling up the local Bar counsel office if all else fails and filing a grievance. This information does not constitute the formation of an attorney client relationship between us and is meant solely to help you on your way to finding competent local counsel of your choice.
