Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

Relocation and Custody

I have joint custody with my exhusband. I have been the domicilary parent for over 2 years now. My exhusband sees my son once or twice a week. I want to relocate with my son, but my exhusband has filed a restraining order preventing me from leaving the parish with my son. I have hired an attorney, but she has done nothing in two weeks. I need advice fast. I know I need a job to relocate, but I cannot get a job because I do not know when or if I can move. My exhusband is not a suitable father and has serious issues with child pornography. What can I do? I feel I need something to address my attorney with to make her move. I've paid her almost $3000 and have nothing to show for it. Advice Please!

Re: Relocation and Custody

The law will not let you re-locate unless it is in the best interest of your son. A job will not guarantee the court will let you move. In fact, if it is only to take a job, or because your husband or boyfriend moves, there is little chance you will be allowed to move. I hate to say this, but from the few facts you have shared, you may have wasted your money.
