Legal Question in Family Law in Louisiana

My wife and I are going through a divorce. We were separated previously for almost 9 months. During that time she got pregnaunt for another man. I still loved her and wanted to make it work so we got back together. I tried for over a year but things just didn't work out. Now that we're fully going through a divorce she told me Louisiana law says it's my responsibility for the kid and is demanding I pay child support. The baby's real father is now in prison. I feel for the kid but I want nothing to do with her or the baby. Is the child my responsibility to support? We live in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Louisiana law states that, "The husband of the mother is presumed to be the father of the child." Like any presumption, it might be untrue. See a lawyer. You should file for divorce disavowing the paternity, if you can. In your case, DNA might be your new best friend.
