Legal Question in Insurance Law in Louisiana

Is there a limit on when an insurance claim can be collected? Someone damaged our property and we cannot get a hold of their insurance company to accept their last offer of restitution. Can they run out the clock on something like this?

The insurance laws of Louisiana have built in penalties that attach to insurance companies who fail to adjust a claim, or fail to make a boni fide offer within a prescribed time or fail to pay after proof of loss. So it depends on your claim, but they may owe penalties, AND they may owe attorney's fees.
