Many things. A vice of consent, such as fraud in the inducement. A failure of consideration, such as a failure to pay the contract amount or do the contracted work. If you have a specific question, you need to give more facts and ask a more specific question. If you are just looking for general information on contract law, read the Civil Code chapters on Contracts (called "conventional obligations" in the Code). The Code is not hard to grasp. The chapters on Contracts start at Article 1906 of the Civil Code. Happy hunting!
