Legal Question in Personal Injury in Louisiana

My mom passed away a year ago, I got her car after everything was over. Well on Jan. 6th this year someone hit my car and it's a 98' so their insurance company wants to total loss it. I ended up going to the hospital with whiplash, then to my doctor a few days later because my neck was still hurting. They wanted to send me to another doctor, but I couldn't afford to pay for it at the time. Well Allstate calls me today, which is their ins. company, he tells me they have to total loss my car and they will pay for my doctor bills, but they want to give me $850.00 for pain and suffering. So I asked him if he thought that $850 was enough to cover my pain and suffering for them hitting me cause they said they didn't see me and taking away the last thing I had of my mothers. So I guess my question is how do I get them to pay me what my suffering is really worth? I want to try to be reasonable, but they really couldn't give me enough for how I feel about lossing my moms car. So what can I do???
