Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Louisiana

I purchased a new home in 2012 in a new construction subdivision. There were was no paperwork disclosed at closing concerning a homeowners association, nor did I or my spouse sign any paperwork agreeing to join an association established at a later date. Now the builder and a few homeowners are attempting to establish an association and pressuring us to join. We have stated both verbally and in writing our intent NOT to join any homeowners association. Can we be forced to join an association established 2+ years after we purchased our home?

No. The developer should have established it prior to your act of sale if he wanted an HOA. It is to late now. You can't be forced to join.
