Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Louisiana

I lost my mother a year ago. We haven't done a succession yet. He started seeing someone who he is now marrying in a couple of months. My parents have a house and two businesses. I want to know what I need to do to protect myself and my brother with our moms share. Thanks
