Legal Question in DUI Law in Maine

Going into Millitary, but still have court obligations.

I got pulled over for DUI back in December, and I have a court date coming up soon, but I'm leaving for the US Army in two weeks and I would like to take care of this but still stay in the Millitary. I dont know if this is goin to cause me to be kicked out or not. I dont know if I can some how make a deal because I'm heading into the service. I'm 20 years old and in a very tough position. I have no idea what to do. I dont want this to cause me to get booted from the Army. This next court date is just an arranment. I dont know what I should say to the judge. I would really like the chance to speak to a DA or an ADA. I need help, what do I do???

Re: Going into Millitary, but still have court obligations.

Thank you for your inquiry...sorry you are in this mess. No one wants this to affect your military service. An attorney can help you. If your court case is in Southern Maine, then I could assist. Otherwise, I can refer you to an attorney in the area where the court proceedings will occur. There is typically some way to handle this with the DA, but I'd need to look at the police reports, etc, and do some research to determine the best way to proceed. Please let me know if you want my assistance or a referral. Thank you.

Give me a call to discuss. I was active duty Army for 5 years and I'm presently a defense attorney in the Reserves. This most likely won't get you kicked out-if it is a simple drunk driving case; however, it may cause some problems with you shipping out for basic training. I would have to know more about the case.
