Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Maryland

I have a question about garnishments. My husband just received one for a credit card that we owe. My question is doe the garnishment have to be in the county that you live. We have never lived in the city and they are going through the city court system. Does this matter? and, how much are they allowed to garnish. He went from a 24.00 job after 29 years to a job only making 12.00.

Thank you for your help.

The garnishment does not have to be from your county of residence. Garnishments are usually not allowed to take more than 25% of a debtor's take home pay. However, there are excpetions to the general rule.
