Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland

Assault

A Female in-law was trying to enter our home after arguing outside my home she tried push her way inside while my wife tried to stand between her and the door. I was inside and closed the door not knowing that her hand was in the door. Know four years later she did the same thing at my home claiming that I pushed her off the porch. She was again trying to enter. I have been convicted on both assaults due to the fact that the female in laws husband is a well know attorney in our county. We have appealed both charges but we are not getting fair treatment now could you please advise. Shouldn't the charges have been dropped due to trespassing? This is out of control. I don't think I should have to spend time in jail over an accident. Please help....

Re: Assault

How often had the in-law been in the house during the four year gap? Was she invited?

To convict the State has to prove all elements that is to show that you intentionally caused harm or injury.

Other facts may apply. Contact an attorney.
