Legal Question in Criminal Law in Maryland

my boyfriend is on probation in maryland for drug charges. he came to florida to get away from the drugs but meanwhile violated his probation. he needs to go back so we can live a normal life with our 13 month old. But he cant stay there for his 5 years probation with all the drugs, hes clean now but im afraid back up there he will begin using again. is there anyway to get probation transfered from maryland to Florida? So that he can come back and we can have a happy normal life? If so how do we do it? How long does the process take?

In order to transfer probation supervision from Maryland to Florida, the probationer has to ask his Maryland probation agent to transfer supervision, and Florida must agree to accept supervision. If he is already in violation, neither will probably agree to do so. Regardless of where the probation is supervised, violations would always be heard in Maryland by the court to whom he is on probation. The transfer process takes as long as the bureaucrats in Maryland and Florida take to process the request.

He had better get a favorable resolution of the violation before he does anything else. The desire to avoid a bad drug environment will not be a valid excuse for failing to report.
