my juvenile son got caught stealing in a store nothing was said he went to school then police was called after the fact can they do anything after he has left the property

Yes, they could still prosecute him. He needs to not answer any questions from anybody. No matter what they say. And tell them he wants a lawyer, and get a lawyer immediately.

Your son can be charged much later than the day of the crime. He should make no statements to the police, or discuss this incident with anyone, other than a lawyer.
