bill of complaint

When filing a bill of complaint for divorce, do i have to file and submit my complaint in the state that i got married,(va) or do i file my complaint in the state that i reside which is md.

Maryland law requires that a party to a divorce live in the state for a period of 1 year before filing for divorce here.

You can file in MD if either you or your spouse has lived here for at least 1 year. If you haven't been here that long and your spouse lives in another state, you could file where he/she resides if you are in a hurry, but that would obviously be less convenient for you than filing here.
