Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

Childs' name change without adoption

I am a widow with one child by my late husband. I am about to remarry and my new husband would like my son to have his name also. Adoption is not an option because I want him to keep that tie with his father but could we legally change his name to reflect a hyphenated version using both men's last names if there is no objection from my late husband's family?

Re: Childs' name change without adoption

You can legally change your son's name whether or not there are objections from the family, and I think your solution is an excellent one which no one should obect to.
