Paying Child Support

If the father over paid in child support and the state sent that over payment to the mother, how does the father get his money back?

Re: Paying Child Support

If the father over-paid his child support, the child support office should have a record of the over-payment and should refund it to the father. If it was a large over-payment, the refund would most likely come in installments, so the mother doesn't have to go without any support payments for a period of time. The father should contact his local child support office to bring the matter to their attention.

Re: Paying Child Support

The safest route is to seek a court order amending future child support until you have recovered your excess payment. If you have finished paying child support, you should consider baggimg it, and moving on.
