Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

My spouse has been in jail for at least a year. I am not sure how much longer she has to serve. for the past four years she has been cohabiting with another man prior to going to jail. I do not know if taxes have been filed. I do know I have not filed or signed any tax returns. She was always the one to deal with our tax returns. What can I do ? She will not communicate with me.

It is your responsibility to file and pay your own taxes notwithstanding your past practice. You can file as a separate married, or if you have dependents you may qualify to file as a head of household. From what you described about your wife, it seems unlikely that she would have filed for 2014 unless she had a lot of unearned income, and even then she obviously didn't file on your behalf. As you are now beyond the 4/15 filing date and presumably didn't seek a timely 6-month extension, penalities and interest are accruing so you ought to consult a tax preparer or get it done asap.
