Legal Question in Family Law in Maryland

In the state of Maryland, how long do you need to be separated before you can get a divorce? I was told you do not need a legal separation if no children or alimony is involved.

You must be separated without cohabitation continuously for 12 months before you can file for absolute divorce, regardless of whether children or alimony are involved.
