Re: Written Summons Request

What you are describing sounds like a court-issued summons that is served along with the underlying motion or complaint. A summons has the name of the issuing court along with an authorization by the clerk of the court. If you reside in Maryland, you would have 30 days to file a written response. Service must be done via certified mail, restricted delivery, or by personal service by a non-party.

Re: Written Summons Request

If there was an attachment, it could be a summons from the court that requires an answer be filed by a certain time. However, if it does not say it is a summons, you may want to do some research. You can either call the court or go online to the Maryland Judiciary website and search for your case to see if anything is pending.

If you should be interested in discussing your matter further, feel free to contact my office.
