Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Maryland

My ex girlfriend is ignoring my request to return my Grandmothers antique cedar chest that has been in my family for over 100yrs. Could I file suit in small claims court for the return of such item ? Also, I discovered that she had posted several other personal items of mine for sale on Craigs List which I did save the photo's & info she posted online with every item. What legal rights do I have & how can I retrieve my Grandmothers cedar chest that is filled with all my childhood items ?

You better take action quick! Yes, you can sue her in small claims court. In Maryland, "small claims court" is otherwise known as Magistrate Court. Of course, I would recommend that you hire a Maryland lawyer to assist you.

Best of luck.******The above is for informational purposes only and does not create an attorney-client privilege.********

You can bring a suit known as a replevin action in the District Court of Maryland. It is not small claims court, although there is a small claims branch of that court. Also, there is no "Magistrate Court" in MD. But you should hire an attorney as there are rules that must be followed that an experienced MD attorney would know about.

Yes, and you can go to the district court's website to find out additional information. There is no magistrate court, but there will be no jury trial. The Judge will decide. Here is the link: http://www.courts.state.md.us/courtforms/index.html. Regards,
