Unauthorized Tape recordings

I want to know is it legal to tape record a personal conversion without someone's knowledge and is that tape admissable in a court of law?

Maryland law makes it illegal to tape record a conversation without permission unless it is part of a criminal investigation and the police have properly obtained a warrant permitting the taping. Thus an illegally obtained conversation couldn't be admissible in a court proceeding.
