Martindale ratings do not necessarily have any bearing on a fee schedule and may or may not reflect an attorney's competence. Ideally, one would select an attorney based on that attorney's experience, knowledge and compatibility with the client. These factors may affect the reasonableness of a proposed fee for services performed. Because of concerns about price fixing laws, you are not likely to get an "average" range posted on an online bulletin board. Instead, you may want to call a few attorneys who handle small business / real estate work to determine their fees.

For instance, my firm handles LLC formations on a flat-fee basis, as do other firms (rather than assessing a retainer against which hourly fees are drawn). The SDAT charges filing fees in the range of $100 - $150 which may be included in the attorney's fee or charged separately.

I hope that the above helps.
