Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Maryland

Harassing Letters

I need some advice on how to handle the following: Since July 2002 I have been receiving letters in the mail, some unanimous phone calls and several drive bys in which female voices shout Bitch and also some vandalizing, nothing major just flowers being pull up in my front yard. I suspected the girl that My ex-boyfiend was seeing was doing all this, because he and I were still friends, but I had no proof. Recently, I received some information stating that the girl I referred too, works at a place I go to excercise, admitted to going through the files and copying and taking home information about me and my friends. She just so happen to start working there about the same time the letters started. She also amitted to this person she had given my address to someone so they could see where I live. I have proof and the person who informed me of this has the copies of things she has taken. My question, should I inform the place of business that this person has done this or should I just drop it and go on with my life. I just need to know what to do. Should I get a Lawyer? Do I need a Lawyer? Can I get a Lawyer to send a letter with the information? Help!! Thanks for your time C:)

Re: Harassing Letters

May I say that it appears that you are dealing sociopath. Tread lightly for she may cost you in ways unforseen although not devoid of legal recovery. The point here is that you may be best to avoid rather than engage.

On to your issues... retain the letters received and, if you feel that engagement is best, contact the police. The police will be of little help on a pro-active basis (they have much more important tasks to attend to). The offenses against your property are truly not within the ambit of the policing power let alone your property insurer. However, you should not hesitate to make a complaint where a duty officer is available and, if such is to occur, request the officer's badge number and then see if you can obtain a report of the ocuurence.

Now onto the invasion of your privacy... The records that you gave to the fitness center are confidential and for business purposes. The gal who accessed this information for a nefarious purpose, as you allege, broke the law. You should report her because it it the proper course of action. Persons of her disposition are those that perpetrate fraud and worse.

If you want to break the contract with the fitness center and pursue your healthful activity at another location, and the present facility does not want to honor a complete severing of your contract or an appropriate transfer, contact me.

You do not need a lawyer to address the matters as I have outlined them above. I hope this helps. If you should need assistance with this or any other legal matter, please feel free to contact me at (410) 799-9002.
