Legal Question in Legal Ethics in Maryland

Reading my mail

A friend recieved via regular mail a summons for jusy duty. my question is sort of simple. i do not know of a law that requires a person to read any mail. i believe it to be my right to clean out my box every day and toss it in the trash un opened and un read. if my beliefe is true then haw can any one claim that you have been summoned by just sending you a note via regular mail. thanks! terry

Delivery to the mailbox is considered delivery to the person. You have a civic responsibility to attend a summons for jury duty. Penalties can apply should you not met the responsibility.
