Legal Question in Personal Injury in Maryland

I'm not sure if I have a lawyer yet, but if the three year statue of limitation is going to expire in the next week or so, what will lawyer have to do, skip over submitting certificate of merit and file a lawsuit? Or what can I do until I know I have a lawyer?
