Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland

I am under contract to purchase a home in Md. I have a large deposit on the home. If I fail to settle due to marital issues and forfeit my deposit can I still be sued?

If you signed a standard MD contract used by an mls realtor, the seller probably has the option of either suing you or keeping your deposit. Unless there is something unique about the deal or the property that would make it hard to find another buyer, in all likelihood they will just forfeit the deposit.
