Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Maryland

Title company did't find lien until after sale

I purchased a property for rental usage in 8/06. Got a mortgage from Citibank which included the insurance anda property tax in the monthly payments. Got a letter from the city of Baltimore yesterday stating the property was sold for back taxes from a previous owner. My mortgage sent me proof they've paid the taxes since 8/06. Obviously the title company didn't do their job in identifyng the lien from the previous owner. What do I do?

File a claim with your title insurer, which you presumably purchased at settlement. If you can't find your policy, contact the settlement company for that information.
