Legal Question in Traffic Law in Maryland

is there a law against an officer sitting on a car for two hours. my friends was pulled over in my car at 9 pm for dead tags. at 11 pm i went to get in the car where it was parked and to drive it home and the cop came flying out a hiding area and pulled me over again. was he aloud to watch the car for 2 hours?

No-there's no law against the cop watching the car for 2 hours.

No this isn't violative of any of your rights. It's simply good police work, as the Courts would say.

The officer may have "staked out" your car, or may have followed up two hours later. Neither one is illegal on its face. However, if you and this officer have a history, and if you can show ill feelings between you, then it might raise a credibility problem for the officer.

Plates are either valid or not, but where the car was and who was driving are credibility issues.
