Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

I just got caught shoplifting at kohls in Chelmsford MA and when they took down my info the woman asked if I had a record and I said no but when the police searched my name what came up was a case from the past when I was 17 from being caught in a stolen vehicle but the case was dismissed when I was proven in ocent so would that show up and be held against me when I appear to court?

Your record will show that you were arraigned and that the charge was dismissed. It should not be held against you by the court; however, some prosecutors may unofficially look at dismissals in determining how to resolve a case. In a trial, it would not be held against you.
