Legal Question in Business Law in Massachusetts

lease

Is a schizophrenic person held liable for a lease contract? Pyramid scheme involving 5 or 6 companies some of which are under investigation by the FTC. One of these companies took a breach of contract matter to court and is suing for default of contract per the court.

Re: lease

If you (or the person concerned) have been sued, then consultation with an attorney needs to happen right away. Incapacity (schizophrenia) might be a defense to the action, but this does not mean that the lawsuit can be ignored. Valid defenses can be lost by failing to respond to a lawsuit, since the court can enter a default judgment against a defendant who has been properly served with process. Your lawyer can best advise you once you have given him copies of the complaint.
