Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Massachusetts

I got a gift worth $600 from my girlfriend. After a few weeks we broke off the relationship. Can she request the gift back?

If it was a gift, the law may not require you to return it. There is nothing stopping her from asking for it, though, and there may be some question as to whether it was a gift or a loan.
