building contractor

Contractor build a deck and walked off job before completion. Left safety issues and debris. Paid 80% of contract.

his attorney placed a mechanics lien on my property for non-payment.

What does this mean?

Do I need to do any thing?

The contractor must file a lawsuit against you to enforce his lien. This work is subject to the Massachusetts Home Improvement Contrcator Act, MGL 142A. Depending on your damages their may be several options available to you.
