diamond and tanzinite ring

What recourse is available for a customer that went to a jeweler to have a ring repaired for a broken prong and the jeweler replaced the tanzinite stone with another without telling the customer.

Ring appraisel is $2000.00

This happened in NH, we reside in MA

My first question would be do they have documentation and/or a reciept for the original ring?

Report it to the local police station where the jewler's shop is located. This What you describef is theft.
