Legal Question in Criminal Law in Massachusetts

Two nights ago i got pulled over and gave a false name & false information to a uniformed officer, he searched the car and found a prescription with my actual name on them but went along with the false information and told him i was just using somebody elses old bottle. He told me he would be sending me a summons for possesion and distribution, i obviously have to turn myself in so that the person whos name i used doesn't get in trouble. if i wasn't arrested can i be arrested after admitting i gave false information. I need immediate advice as soon as possible. Thank you.

A lawyer could inform the police that an alias was used and that issuing the complaint would be an error. I've done this before. The officer wouldn't buy it, so I got some alibi evidence from the person with the stolen ID. Then the case resolved via dismissal and my client was never known.

The officer most likely will issue a summons to the person whos name you used-but when its determined that that was not the person it wont take long for the police to figure it out and summons you. Your right to need to retain an attorney and take care of this matter-contact the office 774-745-0562 for a free consult.
