If I talk to a lawyer can that lawyer tell anyone that we ever talked ?

The lawyer could reveal that you spoke to him or her, but would not be permitted to discuss the specific content of your discussions unless you either authorized the disclosure by the lawyer or waived your right to keep the discussions confidential. Waiver would generally be invoked if you yourself publicly revealed the content of the discussions.
