Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

my husband and I are not legally seperated nor have either of us filed for divorce, he has moved out of our house and is living somewhere rent free, he is claiming that he is not financially responsible for 50% of household bills, is this legal, what is his financial responsibility even if he files the legal seperation ? or divoce papers ?

He should understand that if you are unable to pay your mortgage and other maintenance costs, the home may be lost to foreclosure. Depending upon how much equity is in the home, he simply may not care.

If you feel that you have time, you can file for contested or uncontested divorce. Otherwise, you can file a complaint to establish separate support. This is like alimony, but may be awarded where the parties are still married.
