Legal Question in Family Law in Massachusetts

my mother passed away in 2010, i am adopted and just found here in 2012. my question is this, she had Oil rights in Texas, and the Lawyers for the Oil company never looked for me, knowing that i existed, did nothing to find me,, know i was forced to share my inheritance with the rest of the family, or go to court,, is there a limit on time that i had to come forth? Did they by law need to find me? what are my rights.

thank you

Thank you for your question.

If your mother passed away in Texas, you will need to speak to an attorney who practice probate in that state. The person who had an obligation to notify you was the executor/ administrator/ personal representative (the language will vary by jurisdiction) of your mother's estate. Were you ever contacted by this individual? If nobody took the time to probate your mother's estate, there may still be time. Again, assuming your mother was a resident of Texas at the time of her death, this question must be asked of a Texas probate attorney.

Best of luck.

You need to find a Probate attorney where your mother lived. Assuming it was Texas, you need a Texas Attorney.

You need to find out how this matter was or is being handled and by whom. If your mother had no other children and no husband, then you are entitled to her estate depending upon the terms of the adoption.

Good Luck
