You should send him a letter at his known address, certified mail, directing him that you are holding his things for thirty days, and that if he does not arrange for their pickup or disposal by that time, they will be put in ____ at ___ p.m. on _____, Nov. _____; or donated to _____ at ____, etc.

Make sure you give him ample time to make arrangements, and be sure that you get a signed receipt of delivery of the notice.
