Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Massachusetts

I own a house that my ex-girlfriend lives in although the tenant of record is her mother who has Alzheimers disease. Her mother fell inside the house and my ex has contacted an attorney and my home insurance company saying that i did not fix a railing in the house that could have caused her to fall. My home insurance company wants me to come to their offices for a deposition. Should I contact an attorney before doing this?

It sounds as though a claim has been made against your homeowner's insurance policy by your ex-girlfriend's mother. Do you know whether you have been sued civilly, or whether the insurance company is simply conducting their own investigation? Is the insurance company defending you? I would want more information, but it certainly sounds as though a claim is being made against you.
