Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Massachusetts

small claims defendant is a no-show

what happens when a defendant to a small claims case does not show up for the court hearing? will the plaintiff automatically get judgement in his favor? and does the judge set forth some sort of payment plan for the absent defendant?
