If you are firing your attorney, paperwork is required, and a hearing is most likely necessary. This is not the attorney's choice, and your attorney will not have to spend time and effort to accomplish your desired result. Some attorneys will charge for this, and others will not, but if you are demanding your attorney prepare paperwork and attend court for you, you should expect to pay them for their time.
