Legal Question in Personal Injury in Massachusetts

Hello, can you advise me what to do please. I have a personal injury case going on at present and I feel that me attorney is not being very active with it. So far it is taking two and half years and we are barley half why to the finish. He has deposed five people including myself and now he is filing for to of the people as defendant's. Pre trial is set for Aug. then he tells me we will not go to trial until December or later then that. I feel like he is dragging this out. Is this something that is normal and what so I do?.

Sounds very normal and typical. Consider what incentive your lawyer would have to be "dragging this out." You want things to go faster but the courts and lawsuits are not like McDonalds. If you want, you could change your fee agreement to make it so the lawyer gets paid more if things go faster. Your expectations of speed and how quickly things come from somewhere, just not sure where. You could call your legislator and tell him or her that the courts should be getting more funding and that taxes should be raised so we can have a "rocket docket" in the Massachusetts courts. Best luck. Regards, JBS

Many court dates are outside of the lawyers' control. Five depositions in A LOT of work in a PI case.
